Declaration of State of Local Emergency

Pursuant to section 68 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, James Edward Denyer, declare that a state of local emergency exists in the Western Bay of Plenty District owing to the weather effects such as coastal inundation and high winds from Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle causing emergency services to become overwhelmed with demand, and/or there is risk to life or property.

The state of local emergency comes into force immediately on the making of this declaration, and expires seven days after the time and date on which it comes into force (unless extended or terminated at an earlier time).

Designation: Mayor of the district for which the state of local emergency is declared.
