Pursuant to section 71 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Kieran Michael McAnulty, extend the State of National Emergency declared at 8.43am on Tuesday 14 February 2023 for the Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group areas, owing to the impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle.

The extension comes into force at 8.43am on Tuesday 21 February 2023 and will expire at 8.43am on Tuesday 28 February 2023.
