Pursuant to clause 9 of the Biosecurity (Response - Arable Crops Levy) Order 2023, (“Order”) the arable and maize biosecurity levies have been imposed.

In accordance with clause 10 of the Order, Seed and Grain Readiness and Response Incorporated has set the levies for the period 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024. The levy collection will begin on 1 April 2024.

Levy Rates:

1. Arable crops Biosecurity Levy set at a rate of 0.1% on all harvested seed or grain (except maize) – shared equally between growers (0.05%) and merchant or processor (0.05%)
2. Maize Biosecurity Levy set at a rate of 0.5% on hybrid seed sales – shared equally between the seed company (0.25%) and the maize grower (0.25%).
