Sections 72 and 94B of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002

Background

On 21 September 2023 at 5.50pm, I, Neville Mark Gray Cook, declared a state of local emergency existed in Southland, a CDEM Group Area owing to a severe weather heavy rainfall and the potential need to evacuate persons affected.

I am now terminating the state of local emergency with regard to the CDEM Group Area and giving notice of a transition period over the Southland CDEM Group Area.

1. Termination of a state of local emergency for Southland

I, Neville Mark Gray Cook, terminate the state of local emergency described above.

The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect immediately on the making of this declaration.

2. Notice of local transition period for the Southland CDEM Group area

I, Neville Mark Gray Cook, give notice of a local transition period over the Southland CDEM Group Area owing to the September severe weather and heavy rainfall event.

This transition period –

1. Comes into force immediately on the execution of this declaration and notice;
2. is in force for 28 days;
3. ends at 1.35pm on 21 October 2023, unless extended or terminated earlier.
