Notice of Termination of State of Local Emergency

At 4.45pm on 22 June 2023 I, Rehette Stoltz, Mayor of the Gisborne District Council, declared a state of local emergency over the Tairāwhiti CDEM Group Area owing to the severe weather event.

Pursuant to section 94D of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I now terminate the state of local emergency declared at 4.45pm on 22 June 2023, effective the date and time at which this notice is made.

Notice of Local Transition Period for the Tairawhiti CDEM Group Area

On 12 June 2023 at 4.00pm, I, Rehette Stoltz, Mayor of the Gisborne District Council, gave notice of a local transition period over Tairāwhiti CDEM Group area owing to Cyclone Gabrielle. This local transition period followed the expiry of the national transition period over the area owing to Cyclone Gabrielle.

On 22 June 2023, at 4.45pm, I gave notice of a state of local emergency over the Tairāwhiti CDEM Group area owing to severe weather events in June 2023 (Schedule 3, Part 3, clause 4 of the CDEM Act). I terminated that state of local emergency on 25 June 2023 at 12.00pm.

In order to ensure the recovery from both Cyclone Gabrielle and also the June Severe Weather Event, I give notice of a local transition period covering both events.

Pursuant to section 94D of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Rehette Stoltz, Mayor of the Gisborne District Council, give notice of a local transition period over Tairāwhiti CDEM Group area owing to Cyclone Gabrielle and the severe weather events of June 2023.

The local transition period for these two events comes into force at the date and time of this notice. The local transition period is in force for 28 days and ends at 12.00pm on 21 July 2023, unless extended or terminated earlier.

The effect of this notice is that the recovery for Cyclone Gabrielle and the June severe weather events are managed under the same notice of local transition period.
