On 10 January 2023 at 10.00pm a state of local emergency was declared for Tairawhiti CDEM Group Area, owing to ex-tropical cyclone Hale and Severe Weather Events. That state of local emergency was extended on 17 January 2023 at 3.00pm for a further seven days.

Pursuant to section 94D of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I am now terminating the state of local emergency with regard to the Tairawhiti CDEM Group Area and giving notice of a local transition period over the Tairawhiti CDEM Group Area.

1. Termination of a state of local emergency for Tairawhiti.
   I, Rehette Stoltz, terminate the state of local emergency described above. The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect from the time and date this declaration is made.
2. Notice of local transition period for the Tairawhiti CDEM Group Area.
   I, Rehette Stoltz, give notice of a local transition period over Te Tairawhiti CDEM Group area owing to the ex-tropical cyclone Hale and Severe Weather Events.

This transition period –

1. Comes into force immediately on the execution of this notice, which is the date and time that the state of local emergency declared on 10 January, and extended on 17 January, is terminated;
2. Is in force for 28 days with effect 8.45am on 20 January 2023.
