Pursuant to section 34(2)(a) of the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) Act 2012, I Stephen Stuart, acting under delegated authority as Chief Executive of National Animal Identification and Tracing Limited, which is the designated NAIT organisation, give notice of alternative time limits to those prescribed by regulations made under the NAIT Act 2012 for the provision of information by any person in charge of animals (PICA).

The alternative time limits apply only to those PICAs with NAIT animals located within the Wairarapa, Carterton, and South Wairarapa Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Area affected by adverse weather events.

The alternative time limits are:

• a person registering as a PICA under section 27(1) of the NAIT Act 2012 must do so within three calendar weeks of the date of this Gazette notice.
• a PICA making an animal movement declaration under section 31(1) of the NAIT Act 2012 must make it within three calendar weeks of the date of this Gazette notice.
• a PICA tagging an animal in accordance with regulation 20 of the NAIT (Obligations and Exemptions) Regulations 2012 must do so within three calendar weeks of the date of this Gazette notice.
• a PICA making an animal exit declaration under 32(1) of the NAIT Act 2012 must make it within three calendar weeks of the date of this Gazette notice.
