Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ngāi Te Ruruku o Te Rangi) Notice 2023 (Notice No. MPI 1729)

Pursuant to regulation 10 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ngāi Te Ruruku o Te Rangi) Notice 2023.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on 22 September 2023.

3. Customary Food Gathering Area/Rohe Moana

This notice applies to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana in the New Zealand fisheries waters described in the Corrigendum—Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 1) 1999 (No. F142) (F388), New Zealand Gazette, 2 December 1999, Issue No. 184, page 4357, which is an area extending from the Waikare River to Bluff Hill, in Hawke Bay.

4. Tangata Whenua

The tangata whenua of the area/rohe moana is Ngāi Te Ruruku o Te Rangi.

5. Appointment Cancelled

  1. The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has cancelled the appointment of Rangi Spooner as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the area/rohe moana.
  2. The cancellation took effect 24 August 2023.

6. Appointment

  1. The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has appointed Titan Puna as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the area/rohe moana.
  2. The appointment took effect on 25 August 2023.
