Under section 52P(9) of the Commerce Act 1986 (“Act”) and section 74(1) of the Legislation Act 2019, the Commerce Commission (“Commission”) gives notice that it has made the Electricity Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path (Unison unforeseeable major capex project) Amendment Determination 2022 [2022] NZCC 2 (“amendment determination”) under section 52Q of the Act.

Summary of the Amendment Determination

The amendment determination amends Unison Networks Limited’s (“Unison”) price path under the Electricity Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2020 [2019] NZCC 21 (“DPP3”) to provide for an unforeseeable major capex project to connect and supply electricity to Contact Energy Limited’s Tauhara geothermal power plant from Unison’s electricity lines network. The amendment determination will increase Unison’s DPP3 revenue limit for the period up to March 2025 to cover the $7.3 million cost of the project.
