Fisheries (Exemption From Compliance with the Fisheries Act 1996) Notice 2021 (Notice No. MPI 1414)
Pursuant to the Legislation Act 2019 and section 192A(2) of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Director-General, after complying with section 192A of the Fisheries Act 1996, gives the following notice.
This notice is the Fisheries (Exemption From Compliance with the Fisheries Act 1996) Notice 2021.
This notice comes into force on 31 January 2022.
From the date that this notice comes into effect, MOUNT COOK ALPINE SALMON LIMITED (company number: 2225082) who acquire or are in possession of sockeye salmon (oncorhynchus nerka) are exempt from compliance with section 192A(1) of the Fisheries Act 1996.
The exemption given in clause 3 of this notice is subject to the following conditions:
(1) MOUNT COOK ALPINE SALMON LIMITED may only place sockeye salmon (oncorhynchus nerka) on their licensed fish farms as described in Fish Farm Licences FW047, FW071, FW129 and FW133.
(2) MOUNT COOK ALPINE SALMON LIMITED’s licenced fish farms (FW047, FW071, FW129 and FW133) must specify sockeye salmon (oncorhynchus nerka).
(3) MOUNT COOK ALPINE SALMON LIMITED can only acquire sockeye salmon (oncorhynchus nerka) under an approval from the Central South Island Fish and Game Council.
(4) MOUNT COOK ALPINE SALMON LIMITED cannot sell or provide any other fish farmer or person, live sockeye salmon (oncorhynchus nerka).
(5) This Exemption expires on 31 January 2027.
