Notice of New and Altered and Geographic Names for Moriori Claims Settlement Act 2021

Pursuant to sections 57 and 58 of the Moriori Claims Settlement Act 2021 (“Settlement Act 2021”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of 14 new and altered official geographic names and four altered Crown protected area (“CPA”) names as described in the Schedules below.

The official geographic names and official CPA names took effect on 16 February 2022, being the settlement date specified in the Settlement Act 2021. Pursuant to section 59 of the Settlement Act 2021, the Board may in the future agree to alter any official geographic name listed in Schedule 1 below with the written consent of the trustees of Moriori Imi Settlement Trust.
