Pursuant to section 71 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Rachel Reese, Mayor of Nelson City, extend the state of local emergency declared at 2.54pm on 17 August 2022 for the Nelson Tasman Emergency Management Group area owing to severe weather event and evacuations.

The state of local emergency is extended for seven days. It will take effect immediately from the time the initial declaration of the state of emergency (or the last extension) was to expire.
