Midwifery Council (Fees) Notice 2022

Pursuant to Part 6, section 130(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the following notice is given.

Notice

1. Title and Commencement

(1) This notice may be cited as the Midwifery Council (Fees) Notice 2022.

(2) This notice comes into force on 4 March 2022 and revokes and replaces all previous Midwifery Council (Fees) Notices.

2. Fee

The Midwifery Council (“Council”) sets the following fees, payable to the Council, specified in the below Schedule.

3. Tax

The fees are inclusive of goods and services tax.

4. No Refund

Fees are not refundable when an application is declined.

Schedule

Fees Payable $

Registration

1. Application for entry to the Register by a New Zealand graduate 405.00
2. Application for entry to the Register by midwives registered in an overseas jurisdiction (not applicable to applicants applying pursuant to the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognitions Act 1997) 1,350.00
3. Application for entry to the Register by midwives pursuant to the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 675.00
4. Application for change of conditions on midwifery scope of practice 135.00
5. External review of qualifications where required, cost recovery up to: 650.00
6. Objective Structured Clinical Examination assessment for registration where required, cost recovery up to: 2000.00
7. Remain on the register as inactive (this is an annual fee) 50.00
8. Restoration to the Register following previously being removed 200.00

Annual Practising Certificates (APC)

9. Issue of a partial year first practising certificate for a New Zealand graduate who gains entry to the Register from December and applies to practise for the remainder of the current practising year 230.00
10. Issue of an annual practising certificate (APC) when paid after 31 March, whilst holding a practising certificate for the previous year 750.00
11. Issue of an annual practising certificate (APC) 690.00

Disciplinary Levy

12. Levy for 12 months and payable in addition to fee for practising certificate 50.00

Processing and Monitoring

13. Processing and monitoring fee payable in conjunction with application for a practising certificate by a registered midwife where the applicant has not held a midwifery practising certificate within the three years immediately preceding the date of application or has not lawfully practised midwifery within the three years immediately preceding the date of application 270.00
14. Processing and monitoring fee to be paid in conjunction with the first application for a practising certificate by an internationally qualified midwife or a midwife who has registered pursuant to the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 202.50
15. Processing and monitoring fee payable in conjunction with application for a practising certificate by a registered midwife where the applicant has conditions on their scope of practice 202.50

Examinations

16. Application to sit the National Midwifery Examination 200.00
17. Application for re-consideration of National Midwifery Examination script and result 234.50

Audit/Monitoring of Undergraduate Programme

18. Full audit/monitoring of undergraduate programme, cost recovery up to 13,500.00
19. Approval and accreditation of educational institution and pre-registration midwifery programme, cost recovery up to 35,000.00

Supervision/Mentoring

20. Contribution to supervision/mentoring costs for midwives under section 38 competence order (usual twelve-month programme) (fee per hour) 92.00
21. Contribution to supervision/mentoring costs for midwives with a condition on their scope of practice pursuant to section 22 (fee per hour) 92.00

Certificates

22. Fee for issue of certificate of standing or supply of documents required by midwife seeking registration in overseas jurisdiction 100.00
23. Fee for issue of any other certificate or copy of any certificate 94.50
24. Fee for copy of the Register 67.50
