COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order 2021—Exemption of Persons from Pre-Departure Requirements Before Arriving in New Zealand by Air

Pursuant to clause 58 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order 2021 (“Order”), I, Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of Health, hereby declare that the classes of persons listed in this notice, arriving in New Zealand by air, are exempt from all of the pre-departure requirements set out in clauses 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 30 in the Order, regardless of whether the appropriate Schedule applies those requirements to them.

This notice applies to the following classes of people who arrive in New Zealand by air:

  • Patients subject to aeromedical transfer into New Zealand.
  • People entering under humanitarian or emergency circumstances and their support people.

This exemption is subject to the condition that those using it are assessed by a medical officer of health, a health protection officer, or a health practitioner as if clause 48 of the Order applied to them.

This notice will come into force at 11.59pm on 27 February 2022.
