Pursuant to section 160(3) of the Crown Entities Act 2004, I, Freya Elizabeth Alison Dean, Senior Solicitor, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Finance and the Secretary to the Treasury, give notice that on or about 30 October 2022, the Honourable Grant Robertson, Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Dr Megan Woods, Minister of Housing, gave approval under section 160(1)(b) of the Crown Entities Act 2004 for Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, in relation to section 163 of that Act, to give an indemnity to one or more electricity retailers for the purposes of undertaking an energy hardship research pilot. This approval is subject to the terms contained in the Kāinga Ora briefing entitled “Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities Report: Request for approval to provide a limited indemnity to electricity retailers to undertake an energy hardship pilot”.
