I, Nicholas Jones, Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health, acting under delegation from the Minister of Health, make the following directions under the Burial and Cremation Act 1964 (“Act”):

1. Under section 41(1) of the Act, part of the burial ground, being the land known as the Auckland Memorial Park, being the land described in the Schedule to this notice (“burial ground”), shall be closed subject to the exception and qualifications set out in paragraph 2 below, and burials there shall be discontinued from and including 31 March 2023.
2. This closing order shall be subject to the following exception and qualification:
1. under section 44(4) of the Act, the closed burial ground may be sold or leased or otherwise disposed of or diverted to any other purpose.
