Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Pūkenga) Notice (No. 3) 2022 (Notice No. MPI 1529)

Pursuant to Regulation 10 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, and Ngāti Pūkenga) Notice (No. 3) 2022.

2. Commencement

This notice comes into force on 23 September 2022.

3. Customary Food Gathering Area/rohe Moana

This notice applies to the customary food gathering area/rohe moana defined by clause 2(d) of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 17) 2004 (No. F306) (New Zealand Gazette, 28 October 2004, Issue No. 138, page 3416), which is an area from Wairakei to Kura-a-Maia in the Bay of Plenty.

4. Tangata Whenua

The tangata whenua of the area/rohe moana with respect to this cancellation and appointment is Ngāti Ranginui.

5. Appointment Cancelled

(1) The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has cancelled the appointment of Paeahi Wanakore as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the area/rohe moana.

(2) The cancellation took effect on 2 September 2022.

6. Appointment

(1) The Minister for Oceans and Fisheries has appointed Kerewai Wanakore as a tangata kaitiaki/tiaki for the area/rohe moana.

(2) The appointment took effect on 3 September 2022.
