Notice of Payment into Victims’ Claims Trust Account
A compensation payment has been made to Michael Wayne Tito in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).
The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Michael Wayne Tito to make claims against it.
Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Michael Wayne Tito.
On 5 August 2022, $17,926.72 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Michael Wayne Tito.
The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Michael Wayne Tito until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
Any person who has been a victim of Michael Wayne Tito, in respect of an offence for which Michael Wayne Tito was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Michael Wayne Tito.
Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
