Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Kelvin John Williams was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 11 December 2019 on behalf of Kelvin John Williams to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 16 December 2019, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette and the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 21 December 2021 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Kelvin John Williams in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
