Pursuant to sections 5X, 5Y and 5ZD of the Climate Change Response Act 2002, I, the Honourable James Shaw, Minister of Climate Change, have determined the following emissions budgets to set the total greenhouse gas emissions that will be permitted for the relevant emissions budget periods, expressed as a net quantity of carbon dioxide equivalent as follows:

1. the emissions budget for the 2022 to 2025 emissions budget period is 290 megatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
2. the emissions budget for the 2026 to 2030 emissions budget period is 305 megatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
3. the emissions budget for the 2031 to 2035 emissions budget period is 240 megatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
