Pursuant to section 12(3)(a) of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000 (“Act”), I, the Honourable Doctor Megan Woods, Minister of Energy and Resources, give notice that I have determined that the existing New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS) needs to be replaced by a new strategy. The power to make this decision comes under section 12(2) of the Act.

This notice gives public notification that I have made this determination. A notice will be published in daily newspapers and on the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s website: https://www.mbie.govt.nz/building-and-energy/energy-and-natural-resources/energy-strategies-for-new-zealand/.

A new strategy shall be prepared and issued in accordance with sections 13 to 17 of the Act.
