Notice Title

Class Exemption for New Zealand-based Aircrew on Jetconnect Flights From Auckland to Los Angeles or London From Pre-requisites of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order 2021

Pursuant to clause 57 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Air Border) Order 2021 (“Order”), I, Hon Chris Hipkins, Minister for COVID-19 Response, having taken into account the advice of the Director-General of Health and being satisfied that:

  • the exemption is necessary or desirable in order to promote the purposes of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 or the Order, and
  • that the extent of the exemption is not broader than is reasonably necessary to address the matters that gave rise to the exemption

declare that all New Zealand-based aircrew members, as defined in clause 4 of the Order, flying on Jetconnect Limited’s regularly scheduled international air services between Auckland and Los Angeles, and between Auckland and London, who have travelled by air to 3 ports while outside New Zealand, are exempt from the pre-requisite in clause 1(2)(b)(i) of Schedule 4, meaning that Schedule 4 applies to them provided they meet all the other pre-requisites of clause 1 of that Schedule.

Dated this 30th day of March 2022.

Hon CHRIS HIPKINS, Minister for COVID-19 Response.
