Notification of New Heavy Vehicle Brake Testing Requirements
In accordance with clauses 2.4(2) and 10.6(2) of the Land Transport Rule: Heavy-vehicle Brakes 2006, the Director of Land Transport gives notice of the approval of new methods and conditions, and test result evaluation methods, for testing heavy vehicle brakes.
The methods and conditions, and test result evaluation methods, approved by the Director for testing heavy vehicle brakes are found in the document New Zealand Heavy Vehicle Brake Test Protocol, including any amendments, (“Protocol”) which is published on the Waka Kotahi website at: https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/tech-info.
The Protocol comes into force on 1 December 2022.
The Heavy Vehicle Brake Testing: CoF and Entry Certification Brake Test Protocol and Procedure (which was notified in the New Zealand Gazette, 27 November 2008, Notice No. 2008-au8999) is revoked from 1 December 2022.
