Notice of Decisions to Alter and Assign Undersea Feature Names

Pursuant to sections 25 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) gives notice of five altered and one assigned undersea feature names beyond New Zealand’s 12 nautical mile territorial limit, as described in the Schedule below.

The Board’s final determinations on these undersea feature names took effect on 18 November 2021.

Christoffel Hill An undersea hill in the Southern Ocean at -65.9978 latitude, 165.7832 longitude. Alteration from Lewis Hill (official by New Zealand Gazette, 16 July 2020, Notice No. 2020-ln3107).
Ice Bird Peak An undersea peak in the Southern Ocean at -66.1440 latitude, 165.9437 longitude. Alteration from Ice Bird Seamount (official by New Zealand Gazette, 16 July 2020, Notice No. 2020-ln3107).
Kidson Hills Undersea hills in the Southern Ocean at -69.4055 latitude, 178.0627 longitude. Alteration from Kidson Hill (official by New Zealand Gazette, 16 July 2020, Notice No. 2020-ln3107).
Leachman Hill An undersea hill in the Southern Ocean at -69.6745 latitude, 178.769 longitude. Alteration from Leachman Ridge (official by New Zealand Gazette, Notice No. 2020-ln3107).
Lewis Seamount An undersea seamount in the Southern Ocean at -66.1563 latitude, 165.9413 longitude. Assigned as official.
Solo Peak An undersea peak in the Southern Ocean at -66.2016 latitude, 165.9942 longitude. Alteration from Solo Seamount (official by New Zealand Gazette, 16 July 2020, Notice No. 2020-ln3107).
