Pursuant to section 78 of the Racing Industry Act 2020, TAB New Zealand hereby gives notice of the following amendments to the Betting Rules published as a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 25 August 2003, No. 113, page 2981.

These amendments to the Betting Rules are as follows:

12 CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO FIXED ODDS BETTING

12.13 Postponement, Cancellation Or Abandonment

Unless otherwise stated in Rules 13 and 14 or on TAB’s website:

(a) At its absolute discretion, TAB may allow a period of up to and including six months three days for a Betting Event to be started, resumed, conducted or completed before deeming the event to be abandoned. However, for the avoidance of doubt, TAB may abandon a Betting Event prior to six months at its absolute discretion.

(b) If an Authorised Event or Race Meeting is abandoned or cancelled, or a match is shortened, after its commencement, TAB shall refund all Betting Options that have not yet had an irreversible outcome occur. By way of example only, if a rugby match is abandoned after the first try is scored then bets placed on the “First Try Scorer” Betting Option will be resulted on the player that scored the first try irrespective of whether the event is subsequently completed.

12.20 Same Game Multi

12.20.2 Sport-Specific Rules

Notwithstanding Rule 13, the following Rules apply to a Same Game Multi or a specific Leg of a Same Game Multi:

(c) Rugby Union: In the event of a tie:

(i) At the end of Normal Time, all Legs will include any extra time. Where a Leg relates to a “2nd Half” Betting Option, it will also include any extra time.

(ii) At the end of the match (i.e. by the match ending in a tie at the completion of Normal Time or the match ending in a tie at the completion of any extra time), both sides in “Head to Head” Betting Options will be declared void declared as Winning Selections except where a “Draw” is a Selection in the Betting Option.

(d) Rugby League: In the event of a tie:

(i) At the end of Normal Time, all Legs will include any extra time. Where a Leg relates to a “2nd Half” Betting Option, it will also include any extra time

(ii) At the end of the match (i.e. by the match ending in a tie at the completion of Normal Time or the match ending in a tie at the completion of any extra time), both sides in “Head to Head” Betting Options will be declared void declared as Winning Selections except where a “Draw” is a Selection in the Betting Option.

13 CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO FIXED ODDS SPORTS BETTING

13.1 Purpose of Rule

(a) Rule 13 details the conditions applicable to specific Betting Options in respect of Fixed Odds Sports Betting. Except for Rules 12.20 and 12.22, where there is an inconsistency between Rule 12 and Rule 13, Rule 13 will apply.

(b) For the avoidance of doubt, TAB may alter the conditions applicable to a Betting Option for a specific Betting Event by providing a notation on its website in respect of that Betting Option.

13.3 American Football

(i) Player Markets: For any Betting Option relating to a specific player or specific players (except for “1st Touchdown Scorer to which Rule 13.2(g)(h) applies), if the relevant player participates in the match then all bets stand. In the event that a player does not participate in the match at any stage, then all bets on that player will be declared void.

13.6 Badminton

(a) Subject to Rule 12.13(b), Iif a match is abandoned (including for the avoidance of doubt, where a named player does not play) or postponed all bets are void unless the match is rescheduled to take place within 24 hours of the original scheduled start time.

(b) Where a match has at least one game completed but is not finished (including but not limited to in the case of retirement or disqualification):

(i) the player who is declared as the winner of the match in accordance with the Official Result or, in the absence of an Official Result, the player who progresses to the next round or the tournament winner (in the case of the final), will be deemed the winner of the match. All Betting Options specifically relating to the winner of the match will be determined by this Rule 13.6(b)(i); and

(ii) Subject to 12.13(b), all other bets (which are not determined solely by who is the winner of the match) will be declared void.

(b) In the event that the venue for the match is changed, TAB will void all bets.

(c) Subject to Rule 12.13(b), if the scheduled number of sets changes then all bets will be declared void, except “Head to Head” Betting Options, which will be determined in accordance with the Official ResultRule 13.6(b)(i).

(d) Tournament Betting: In the event that a competitor does not takes his or her place in a tournament, TAB may apply a Deduction to the Odds of Winning Selections in accordance with APPENDIX 3.

13.11 Cricket

(c) For the purposes of this Rule 13.11 (and all cricket betting):

(v) In the event of a tie, any subsequent “Super Over”, or “Bowl Off” or similar method for determining an outcome, will only apply for determining the outcome of the match for the purposes of “Head to Head” Betting Options, and not count for the purposes of any other Betting Options. All other methods for determining an outcome will not apply and the match will be considered a tie for betting purposes (for example, a tie-breaker such as “number of boundaries hit during regulation”).

13.22 Rugby Union

(g) Tryscorer Betting (For example, “To Score A Try”, “1st Try Scorer”, etc.) : For the purposes of “Tryscorer” Betting Options, the following rules apply:

(iii) For “1st Try Scorer”, “Xth Try Scorer” and “Last Try Scorer” Betting Options, where a Penalty Try is awarded and “Penalty Try” is not a Selection in the Betting Option then Winning Selections will be determined by the following Rules:

(i) For “1st Try Scorer” Betting Options: Winning Selections will be determined by the next try. By way of example only, if the first try of the game is a penalty try (and “Penalty Try” was not a Selection in the Betting Option), then the player to score the second try will be considered the “1st Try Scorer” (as well as the “2nd Tryscorer”). In such a case, the outcome of the “2nd Tryscorer” Betting Option will be determined by the second try of the game (notwithstanding that the first try was a penalty try). In addition, if there is no 2nd Tryscorer then there will be no 1st Tryscorer.

(ii) For “Xth Try Scorer” Betting Options only (for example, “2nd Try Scorer”, “3rd Try Scorer”, and so on) and not including “1st Try Scorer” Betting Options: Bets on the Betting Option to which the Penalty Try relates will be declared void.

(iii) For “Last Try Scorer” Betting Options: Winning Selections will be determined by the penultimate try of the game (or the try previous to that if the penultimate try was a penalty try).

(iii) Where a Penalty Try is awarded, and “Penalty Try” is not a Selection in the Betting Option, then Winning Selections will be determined by the next try. By way of example only, if the first try of the game is a penalty try (and “Penalty Try” was not a Selection in the Betting Option), then the player to score the second try will be considered the “1st Try Scorer” (as well as the “2nd Tryscorer”). In such a case, the outcome of the “2nd Tryscorer” Betting Option will be determined by the second try of the game (notwithstanding that the first try was a penalty try). In addition, if there is no 2nd Tryscorer then there will be no 1st Tryscorer.

13.26 Tennis

(b) Subject to Rule 12.13(b), all bets will be declared void where a player retires or is disqualified before the conclusion of the first set.

(c) In respect of all ATP/WTA/Challenge Tour/Grand Slam/Davis Cup/Federation Cup/Hopman Cup matches, where a player retires or is disqualified after the conclusion of the first set:

(i) the player who progresses to the next round or, in the case of a final, the tournament winner will be declared as the winner for the purposes of the “Head to Head” Betting Option; however

(ii) bets on the retiring player (in the “Head to Head” Betting Option) will be declared void; and

(iii) Subject to 12.13(b), all other bets will be declared void.

(d) In respect of all other tournaments besides those mentioned in Rule 13.26(c) (for example exhibition or ITF matches), but subject to Rule 12.13(b), all bets (including bets on the “Head to Head” Betting Option) will be declared void if a player retires (regardless of whether retirement occurs during or following the first set) at any point during the match.

(e) Notwithstanding anything above, when a player is disqualified before the conclusion of the match, all bets stand. For the purpose of determining Betting Options in such a situation, the player who progresses to the next round or, in the case of a final, the tournament winner will be declared the winner, and the player will be deemed to have won all points/games/sets which would have otherwise followed the disqualification, until the conclusion of the match.

(e) For the avoidance of doubt, all bets will be declared void where a match does not take place or a walkover is given to a player.

14 CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO FIXED ODDS RACE BETTING

14.1 Purpose of Rules

(a) Subject to Rule 14.1(b), Rule 14 details the conditions applicable to specific Betting Options in respect of Fixed Odds Race Betting. Except for Rules 12.20 and 12.22, where there is an inconsistency between Rule 12 and Rule 14, Rule 14 will apply.

(b) For the avoidance of doubt, TAB may alter the conditions applicable to a Betting Option for a specific Betting Event by providing a notation on its website in respect of that Betting Option.

13.30 Handball

(a) Subject to Rule 12.13(b), if a match is postponed and rescheduled to occur or resumed within 36 hours of the original scheduled start time, all bets will stand. If the event is postponed for a period longer than 36 hours then TAB will declare all bets void.

(b) Subject to Rule 13.30(c), Betting Options will be determined at the end of Normal Time unless otherwise specified.

Where a match is abandoned or concluded before the end of Normal Time, all bets will stand if an Official Result is declared by the official controlling body of the particular match within one hour of its completion. Otherwise, Rule 12.13(b) will apply.

13.31 Surfing

(a) If a Surfing Betting Event is postponed and rescheduled to occur or resumed within 10 days of the original scheduled start time, all bets will stand. Subject to Rule 12.13(b), if the event is postponed for a period longer than 10 days then TAB will declare all bets void

(b) Subject to Rule 12.13(b), in the event that the venue for the event is changed, TAB will declare all bets void.

These Rules come into force on 19 February 2021.
