Amending a Notice 2021 (2nd) - Physiotherapy Board (Fees) Notice 2018

Pursuant to section 132(1) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (“Act”), the Physiotherapy Board (“Board”) amends or revokes certain fees prescribed by the Board pursuant to section 130 of the Act and amends the disciplinary levy prescribed by the Board pursuant to section 131 of the Act.

Pursuant to section 130 of the Act the Board prescribes a new application fee for registration within the Scope of Practice: Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP).

This notice amends with effect from the respective dates specified below the fees and levy payable to the Board in the Schedule to the notice titled Physiotherapy Board (Fees) Notice 2018 published in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 January 2018, Notice No. 2018-gs138, as amended by notices in the New Zealand Gazette, 3 March 2020, Notice No. 2020-gs931 and New Zealand Gazette, 20 April 2021, Notice No. 2021-gs1478, as follows:

1. Amendment to Disciplinary Levy and APC Application Fees

With respect to the practising year commencing 1 April 2022 and to all subsequent practising years:

Amend the wording under the heading “Fees payable to the Physiotherapy Board” as follows:

  • reduce the fee payable for an application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant holds a current APC and the Board receives a duly completed application (including the fee set by the Board) before 1 April of the practising year for which the application is submitted from $555.50 to $500.00; and
  • reduce the fee payable for a late application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant held an APC on 31 March of the practising year immediately prior to the practising year for which the application is submitted but the Board does not receive a duly completed application (including the fee set by the Board) before 1 April of the practising year for which the application is submitted from $782.20 to $726.70;
  • reduce the fee payable for an application for an annual practising certificate (APC) under section 26 of the Act, where the applicant either did not hold an APC in the practising year immediately prior to the practising year for which the application is submitted or held such an APC but subsequently applied for retention of the applicant’s entry on the Register as a non-practising physiotherapist and paid the fee set by the Board for such application from $550.50 to $500.00;
  • reduce the fee payable for an interim practising certificate under section 31 of the Act from $555.50 to $500.00.

Amend the wording under the heading “Levy payable to the Physiotherapy Board” as follows:

  • reduce the disciplinary levy imposed under section 131 of the Act (payable annually) from $125.50 to $70.00.

2. Revocation of Fees for Application for Registration in Special Purpose Scopes of Practice

With effect from 1 March 2022:

Under the heading “Fees payable to the Physiotherapy Board” delete the wording:

“Application for registration within the Special Purpose Scope of Practice: Postgraduate

Physiotherapy Student or Special Purpose Scope of Practice: Visiting Presenter/Educator:

Under section 12(2)(c) of the Act – Postgraduate Physiotherapy Student $349.60
Under section 12(2)(e) of the Act – Visiting Presenter/Educator $349.60”

3. New Fees for Application for Registration in APP scope

With effect from 1 March 2022:

Under the heading “Fees payable to the Physiotherapy Board” insert the wording:

“Application for registration within the Scope of Practice: Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP):

Stage 1 assessment $400.00
Stage 2 assessment (if required) $600.00”
