Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Ricky Shane Stampa was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 17 February 2021 on behalf of Ricky Shane Stampa to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

From 5 March 2021, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 5 March 2021 the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 6 March 2021 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Ricky Shane Stampa in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
