Notice Under Clause 19A(6) of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 12) 2021

Pursuant to clause 19A(6) of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 12) 2021 (“Order”), I, as the Director-General of Health, hereby specify the following examination or tests for COVID-19 to be an applicable COVID-19 test for the purposes of clauses 19A and 19B of the Order:

  1. For persons travelling in accordance with items 1 or 2 of Schedule 5, testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral ribonucleic acid:
    1. using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or transcription-mediated amplification (TMA);
    2. on a sample collected by taking nasopharyngeal swabs, oropharyngeal and anterior nasal swabs, or saliva; and
    3. which is undertaken in accordance with a laboratory’s accreditation to ISO15189;
  2. For persons travelling in accordance with any other item of Schedule 5, testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral ribonucleic acid:
    1. using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or transcription-mediated amplification (TMA);
    2. on a sample collected by taking nasopharyngeal swabs or oropharyngeal and anterior nasal swabs; and
    3. which is undertaken in accordance with a laboratory’s accreditation to ISO15189.

The notice under clause 19A(4) of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 11) 2021 dated 10 September 2021, New Zealand Gazette, 13 September 2021, Notice No. 2021-go3944, is revoked.
