Notice Title

Extension for Board Elections for By-elections of Parent and Staff Representatives

Pursuant to section 170(3) of the Education and Training Act 2020 and acting with delegated authority from the Minister of Education, I hereby extend the period for closing nominations and all subsequent actions required by the Education (Board Elections) Regulations 2000, for schools which meet the conditions below.

This extension applies to the by-election of a staff or parent representative, or the first election following establishment of the school, or the first election following the revocation of an intervention under section 181 of the Education and Training Act 2020, and

  • that had any part of the election take place between 18 August 2021 and 8 September 2021; and
  • the election has been affected by the change in alert levels; and
  • the school is outside the Alert Level 4 area as described in the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 10) 2021; and
  • the school requires an extension to the period for closing nominations and all subsequent actions.

The close of nominations for those elections will now be Friday 24 September 2021 and voting for the elections will now close at noon on Wednesday 27 October 2021.

This notice takes effect the day of its publication.
