Notice of Payment into Victims’ Claims Trust Account

A compensation payment has been made to Tiwha Junior Te Amo in respect of a specified claim under the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”).

The Act requires that after the Secretary of Justice makes certain deductions from the compensation payment, the surplus remaining goes into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account to enable victims of Tiwha Junior Te Amo to make claims against it.

Any money left after any victims’ claims have been paid will be paid to Tiwha Junior Te Amo.

On 13 August 2021, $201.56 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Tiwha Junior Te Amo.

The money paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account is held in trust for Tiwha Junior Te Amo until it has been paid out in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.

Any person who has been a victim of Tiwha Junior Te Amo, in respect of an offence for which Tiwha Junior Te Amo was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Tiwha Junior Te Amo.

Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.
