Pursuant to subclause 5.4(1A) of Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 and a delegation from the Waka Kotahi, NZ Transport Agency, I, Hayley Evans, Senior Manager Systems Integrity, authorise the installation and maintenance of the road markings described in the Schedule 1, in accordance with the conditions set out in this notice:

Conditions

  1. The M10 Behavioural markings may be marked on shared paths and cycle paths.
  2. The M10 Behavioural markings must not be marked on the “Roadway”, other than in a “Shared Zone” resolved through a bylaw.
  3. The M2-3F Cycle loop detection marking may be marked in any location which requires the cyclist to be detected by the loops to initiate cycle traffic signals phase.

Schedule 1

M10-1 ‘Slow roundel’: Users should travel at a slower speed on the section of path beyond the marking.

M10-2 ‘Slow Zone’: The area between the two ‘Slow Zone’ markings has been designated a ‘Slow Zone’. Users should travel at a slow speed when traversing the ‘Slow Zone’.

Colour: white (reflectorised)

M10-3Keep left: Advises users to keep left.

M10-4 ‘Give space: Riders should give pedestrians space when passing

M2-3F Cycle loop detection marking: Indicates to cyclists the most sensitive area of the detection loop to trigger the cycle signals.

Note: The new M10 shared path behavioural markings supersede the “VicRoads Cycle Note 10” behavioural markings which were previously used on New Zealand (NZ) shared paths in the absence of approved NZ behavioural markings. The Cycle Note 10 markings must no longer be used.
