Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002—Temporary Suspension of Requirements to Engrave VINs on the Rear Window of Vehicles

The manner and place of attachment for Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) allocated in New Zealand – temporary suspension of certain requirements during and subsequent to the key restrictions imposed in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Pursuant to clause 11.7(1) of the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002, I, Davey Uprichard, Manager, Vehicle Standards, suspend until 30 June 2022 the requirements to engrave VINs on the rear window of vehicles as specified in the notice “The Manner and Place of Attachment for Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINS) Allocated in New Zealand” published in the New Zealand Gazette, 20 January 1994, No. 4, page 122.
