Notification of Commerce Commission’s Aurora Energy Limited Electricity Distribution Customised Price-Quality Path Determination 2021 [2021] NZCC 3

The Commerce Commission (“Commission”) gives notice that under Part 4 of the Commerce Act 1986 (“Act”), the Commission has determined and published the Aurora Energy Limited Electricity Distribution Customised Price-Quality Path Determination 2021 [2021] NZCC 3 (“Aurora CPP”).

Summary of the Aurora CPP

Under section 53V(3) of the Act, the Aurora CPP amends the Electricity Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2020 [2019] NZCC 21 (“DPP”) as it applies to Aurora Energy Limited (“Aurora”), replacing all terms of the DPP as they apply to Aurora. The Aurora CPP appends at Schedule 12 variations to the Electricity Distribution Services Input Methodologies Determination 2012 [2012] NZCC 26 the Commission agreed with Aurora for the purpose of determining the Aurora CPP.

The Aurora CPP sets a customised price path and quality standards for Aurora for a five-year period ending 31 March 2026. The Aurora CPP will allow Aurora to increase its regulated revenues above what the DPP permitted, enabling Aurora to repair its electricity lines network and recover the cost of its spending from its customers.
