Pursuant to section 51(1)(a) of the Te Uri o Hau Claims Settlement Act 2002, the Minister of Conservation hereby notifies that the area described in the Schedule hereto has been declared to be subject to a Kirihipi overlay by section 40 of the Act.

The provisions of the Act which relate to the Kirihipi overlay area are sections 39–56.

Pursuant to section 51(1)(b) of the Act the Minister hereby notifies that the following protection principles are directed at the Minister of Conservation; avoiding harm to, or the diminishing of, Te Uri o Hau values related to Manukapua Government Purpose (Wildlife Management) Reserve:

1. Encouragement of respect for Te Uri o Hau’s association with Manukapua;
2. accurate portrayal of Te Uri o Hau’s association with Manukapua; and
3. recognition of Te Uri o Hau’s relationship with urupa, wahi tapu, and wahi taonga, including archaeological sites.
