Notice Under the Social Security Act 2018
Pursuant to section 101 of the Social Security Act 2018, notice is given of the making of the following instrument by the Minister for Social Development.

This instrument, which comes into force on 30 March 2020, amends the Special Needs Grants Programme given on 18 December 1998 and made under the Social Security Act 1964 (and saved by Schedule 1 of the Social Security Act 2018). The amendment allows MSD to extend the duration of Emergency Housing Special Needs Grants in specified circumstances and to require an Applicant to pay a contribution of 25% of their and their partner’s income towards the cost of emergency housing. It also makes other minor and technical amendments to the structure and wording of clause 14A.
The instrument is a disallowable instrument for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2012 and is administered by the Ministry for Social Development.
