Pursuant to Section 7 of the Education Act 1989, and acting under the delegated authority of the Minister of Education, I hereby fix the following additional enrolment criteria for Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu.

This policy comes into effect on 17 February 2020.

Introduction

This document sets out the criteria for an additional government-funded gateway for accessing dual tuition at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu, to ensure that students who have been unable to enter New Zealand due to travel disruptions or restrictions associated with the novel coronavirus outbreak can access education while overseas.

Eligibility for Government Funded Dual Tuition Under the Emergency: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Gateway

All state and state-integrated schools, and the private schools listed in the Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) Enrolment and Dual Tuition Policy, may register domestic students aged 5–19, or in years 1–15 (or up to aged 21 with Ongoing Resourcing Scheme funding or a section 9 agreement) under the below registration gateway, until such time as the Minister of Education deems that this gateway is no longer necessary.
