Accident Compensation (Experience Rating—Christchurch Adverse Event) Notice 2020

This notice is issued pursuant to Regulation 23 of the Accident Compensation (Experience Rating) Regulations 2019 and declares the terror attacks in Christchurch on 15 March 2019 to be adverse events.

Notice

1. Title

This notice is the Accident Compensation (Experience Rating – Christchurch Adverse Event) Notice 2020.

2. Commencement

The notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

3. Terror attacks are adverse events

The terror attacks that occurred at each of the following locations on 15 March 2019 are adverse events─

    1. Al Noor Mosque, 101 Deans Avenue, Christchurch; and
    2. Linwood Islamic Centre, 223A Linwood Avenue, Christchurch.

Explanatory Note

This note is for explanatory purposes only.

The effect of this notice is that the Accident Compensation (Experience Rating) Regulations 2019 (LI 2019/38) apply to a qualifying claim resulting directly or indirectly from the terror attacks of 15 March 2019 only if the person whose levy is affected contributed materially to the injury for which the qualifying claim is made.
