Notice of End of Process for Making and Determining Victims’ Claims

Take notice that, pursuant to part 2, (subpart2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Gregory James Toka aka Hemi Gregory Toka was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 17 January 2020, and the surplus, was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 27 January 2020 on behalf of Gregory James Toka aka Hemi Gregory Toka to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

And that on 31 January 2020, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 1 February 2020, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and on 31 January 2020 on the website of the Ministry of Justice, of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of Victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

Under section 48 of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Gregory James Toka aka Hemi Gregory Toka to the offender.
