Te Rohe o Te Whānau Puha Whale Sanctuary (Restriction) Notice 2020
Pursuant to section 15(1) of the Kaikōura (Te Tai o Marokura) Marine Management Act 2014, the Minister of Conservation, after complying with section 15(3) of that Act, and with the consent of the Minister of Energy and Resources and the Minister for Māori Crown Relations: Te Arawhiti, as required by section 15(5) of that Act, gives the following notice.
This notice is the Te Rohe o Te Whānau Puha Whale Sanctuary (Restriction) Notice 2020.
This notice comes into force on 5 November 2020.
In this notice,—
Act means the Kaikōura (Te Tai o Marokura) Marine Management Act 2014
mining has the meaning given by section 2(1) of the Crown Minerals Act 1991
petroleum has the meaning given by section 2(1) of the Crown Minerals Act 1991
sanctuary means Te Rohe o Te Whānau Puha Whale Sanctuary established under section 11(1) of the Act
seabed mining—
(a) means mining in the seabed; but
(b) excludes mining for petroleum.
Seabed mining within the sanctuary is prohibited.
