Take notice that, pursuant to part 2, (subpart 2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“Act”), compensation awarded to Robert Jonathan Taha was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 10 September 2019, and the surplus, was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 17 September 2019 on behalf of Robert Jonathan Taha to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.
And that on 27 September 2019, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 28 September 2019, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and on 27 September 2019 on the website of the Ministry of Justice, of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of Victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.
Under section 48(4) of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Robert Jonathan Taha to a victim and the offender.
