Exemption of Businesses From Requirements of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Levels 3 and 2) Order 2020

Pursuant to clause 27 of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Levels 3 and 2) Order 2020 (“Order”), I, Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General, Ministry of Health, hereby declare that the following businesses are exempted from section 11(1) of the Order:

1. Air New Zealand Limited
2. JetStar Airways

The exemption is subject to the following conditions, provided for under sections 27(1) and 27(2) of the Order:

  1. The exemption applies for the period between 11:59am on 12 August 2020 and 11:59pm on 13 August 2020
  2. Both businesses above must ensure that all air travellers
    1. wear a face covering while on a plane for the full duration of the trip
    2. are provided, and are required to use, hand sanitiser prior to boarding and when disembarking the plane.

I, Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General, Ministry of Health, hereby also declare that all persons travelling outbound from the Alert Level 3 area for the duration specified above, on Air New Zealand Limited or JetStar Airways, are exempted from section 8(1)(b) in regard to physical distancing of the Order for that period. This class of persons will also be subject to the (face covering and hand sanitiser use) conditions set out above.
