GAMMACK ESTATE CHARITABLE TRUST
Notice is hereby given that the Estate of James Gammack (“Trust”) has made application to the High Court at Christchurch for approval of a scheme under sections 33 and 34 of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957.
The Trust was established in 1896 under the will of James Gammack. The Trust’s charitable purposes include the establishment of four university scholarships known as the “Gammack Scholarships”, and the support of the “Circulating Department of the Christchurch Public Library”. The scheme proposes to restore the balance of the distribution amounts between the two funds to correct for inflation, and then make consequential amendments to adjust trustee remuneration, to extend the powers of the Trustees, and to vary the mode of administering the Trust. This shall be done by the adoption of a new Trust Deed in substitution for the 1896 Will.
The application is to be heard before the High Court at Christchurch on Monday 14 December 2020 at 11.45am.
Any person desiring to oppose the application is required to give written notice of their intention to do so to:
not less than seven clear days before the date of hearing.
This notice is given by Duncan Cotterill, Lawyers, (Ewan Chapman), PO Box 5, Christchurch 8140, acting for the Applicant:
