Pursuant to section 338(2) of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, on the recommendation of the Māori Land Court, the Māori freehold land described in the Schedule be set apart as a Māori Reservation and included in Matata Lot 72B No.3Y No.16 Māori Reservation. The purpose of the reservation is a meeting place for the common use and benefit of the Ngāti Tarawera subtribe of the Ngātiawa tribe by notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 11 February 1971, No. 9, page 207.
