Extension of Reporting Timeframes for Persons in Charge of Animals Under the National Animal Identification and Tracing Act 2012 in the Nelson Tasman Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Area

Pursuant to section 34(2)(a) of the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) Act 2012, I Pim Borren, acting under delegated authority as Chief Executive of National Animal Identification and Tracing Limited, which is the designated NAIT organisation, give notice of alternative time limits to those prescribed by Regulations made under the NAIT Act 2012 for the provision of information by any person in charge of animals (PICA).

The alternative time limits apply only to those PICAs with NAIT animals located within the Nelson Tasman Civil Defence Emergency Management Group area affected by the Nelson Tasman (Pigeon Valley) Fire.

The alternative time limits are:

  • a PICA making a declaration under section 31(1) of the NAIT Act 2012 must make it within 7 days of the cessation of the state of local emergency
  • a PICA making a declaration under 32(2) of the NAIT Act 2012 must make it within 21 days of the cessation of the state of local emergency.
