Dated at Wellington this 15th day of July 2019.

DAVID DUNBAR, Registrar, Medical Council of New Zealand.

Explanatory Note

Increase in PC fee and disciplinary levy

On 18 April 2019, the Council released a consultation document, seeking feedback on proposed increases to the practising certificate fee and annual disciplinary levy. On 11 June 2019, the Council received and considered a report on the feedback from the consultation. The Council resolved to approve the practising certificate fee of $571.39 (excluding GST) and disciplinary levy of $154.36 (excluding GST) with an effective date of 1 September 2019. These fees are payable together, upon application for a practising certificate.

Other fees adjusted for inflation

All fees have been inflation-adjusted by 1.9%, with the exception of, -

  • the fees for a vocational practice assessment and for the accreditation of a training provider (both of which remain unchanged from 1 July 2019), and
  • the NZREX application and examination fees, which now reflect the cost of administering and undertaking these examinations.
Commencement

This notice comes into effect on 1 September 2019. From that date, these earlier notices are revoked:
