Pursuant to Regulation 22 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries gives the following notice.
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for Mangamaunu Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2019.
This notice comes into force on 20 December 2019.
3. Revocation of this notice
This notice is revoked five years after its commencement.
4. Mātaitai Reserve
This notice applies to Mangamaunu Mātaitai Reserve, north of Kaikoura, that was declared by the Kaikoura (Te Tai o Marokura) Marine Management Act 2014.
(1) The Minister of Fisheries has appointed the following people as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve:

- Ma-rea Clayton:
- Debbie Walford:
- Keepa Timms:
- Nukuroa Tirikatene-Nash:
- Jeff Reardon.
(2) The appointments—
- took effect on 14 November 2019; and
- expire on 13 November 2024.

This notice is made under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 (“regulations”). It comes into force on the 20 December 2019 and revokes itself on 19 December 2024.
The notice relates to Mangamaunu Mātaitai Reserve, north of Kaikoura. The tangata whenua of the area that includes the mātaitai reserve are represented by Te Rūnanga o Kaikoura.
Notice is given of the appointment of six Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointments at the request of Te Rūnanga o Kaikoura.
The powers of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
