On 23 August 2019, pursuant to section 10 of the Biosecurity (Response—Avocado Levy) Order 2019, the Executive of the New Zealand Avocado Growers’ Association (NZAGA) resolved to vary the levy rate. The rate change will commence on 7 September 2019 and end on 30 April 2020 (the end of the levy year) or prior based on section 10(3) where no further levy money is needed to meet NZAGA’s biosecurity response commitments.

Rates that will apply include:

• 0.125% of selling price (plus GST, if any) for New Zealand market avocados; and
• 2.5 cents (plus GST, if any) per tray equivalent for export avocados.
