Notice of Intention to Consider Varying a Scheduled International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to section 87J(3) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, sections 41(1) and 42 of the State Sector Act 1988, and a delegation from the Secretary for Transport dated 13 March 2019, I give notice that, having received an application from Air New Zealand Limited, the Minister of Transport intends to consider varying the Scheduled International Air Service Licence held by that airline in order to:

  • include own-aircraft capacity of up to five return services per week to points in Korea
  • remove a redundant code-share restriction relating to New Caledonia and, instead, permit code-share services “as filed with and acknowledged by the Secretary for Transport”.

Additionally, and under delegated authority from the Minister of Transport, Air New Zealand was given 21 clear days’ notice of the Minister’s intention to vary the airline’s Licence to remove its own-aircraft capacity entitlements for Vanuatu and Viet Nam, as these entitlements are not being used. The 21 day period expired on 10 May 2019.

Any person wishing to make representations to the Minister of Transport relating to this application must forward those representations in writing to reach me at the Ministry of Transport, PO Box 3175, Wellington, on or before 11 June 2019.

Signed at Wellington this 15th day of May 2019.

TOM FORSTER, Manager, International Connections, Ministry of Transport.
