This instrument, which comes into force on 12 April 2019, amends the Special Needs Grants welfare programme made under the Social Security Act 1964 (and saved by clause 21, Schedule 1 of the Social Security Act 2018). It gives approval for payments under Part 6 of the programme to farmers affected by:
- the drought in the Buller District, Marlborough District, Nelson City and Tasman District.
- The Tasman District fires in the Tasman District.
The approval applies between 12 April 2019 and the close of 12 October 2019, unless further extended by the Minister.
The instrument is a disallowable instrument for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2012 and is administered by the Ministry for Social Development.
