Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004—Active Stop Ahead Sign Trial Stage 2 Amendment

Pursuant to subclause 3.4(1) of the Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 and a delegation from the NZ Transport Agency, I, Glenn Bunting, Manager Network Safety, make the following amendments to the “Active Stop Ahead Sign Trial – Stage 2” notice, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 7 September 2018, Notice No. 2018-au4468.

  1. In Schedule 1–Purpose of trial, delete “e. where installed at railway level crossings, measure drivers’ behaviour at the level crossings controlled by stop signs, which have active stop ahead signs installed in advance of the level crossing (Group B sites).”
  2. In Schedule 3 delete the Schedule heading and replace it with “Schedule 3—Location (group A intersections)”
  3. In Schedule 3 delete:

  1. In Schedule 5 delete item a. iv and replace it with “iv. A study of crashes that occur at the intersection before and after the active stop ahead signs are installed;”

Explanatory note

The amendment removes the level crossing locations from the approved list of trial sites and also removes specific references to level crossings from the amended Gazette notice.
